The responsibility of the SST Modified Series management team is to over see the day-to-day operations of scheduling, rules website, marketing, promotion, etc but there are also perks for this team even though there is currently no pay for this team of volunteers. Recently representatives traveled to the (PRI) Performance Racing Industry convention in Orlando, FL. This is where new associated series sponsor are developed and contacts are made.
The main focus for 2007 marketing was a new contingency program for SST teams. This idea proved to be very affective. Representatives received a warm welcome by many interested companies and were able to introduce the series to others. After several weeks of preparation and 3 days of shaking hands and kissing babies, the team returns with high aspirations of signing up new associate sponsors to the series.
The general idea is to create a list of contingent components to add to the overall series year and awards. This product exposure works well for the manufacturers because SST creates visual imprints of these products and requires all eligible tams to proudly display the company logo (sticker) on their modified racecar all season.
In 2007 the top 20 teams should be competing for $10,000 in cash and prizes including the Hoosier Tire and 2Kwik Chassis Program. This program has been expanded form the Top 15 of 2006. With the joining of Holland Speedway to the SST Series family of Chemung, Lancaster, Spencer, and Wyoming County international, 2007 home track participants may hit over 100 teams collectively. Growth of this magnitude for this Northeast based series is very respectable and thought to be a primary reason for the management team’s recent success.
