More aggression and emotion in racing?
Jim Majchrzak SST Series Director

SST / WCIS; How about that article from The Associated Press 1/22/10….’NASCAR alters rules to let drivers loose’… it goes on to say that fan sentiment is that NASCAR racing has gone stale, and ‘Fans want rough-and-tumble racing and more personalities’

I think I’ve found the answer….in fact it’s been here since the beginning…
SHORT TRACK RACING. We certainly are not short of personalities. Anyone who has been around the local track on a summer night knows exactly what I’m speaking of…not that I’ve ever been involved directly in a burst of rough-and-tumble, …of coarse, But we’ve all seen it.

On the front straight a- way, in the pits…that’s what makes up short track racing…BullRing Style! As far as emotion goes…just listen to the post race interviews. ‘Thank God, thank family and thank the fans & crew!’… ‘And I can’t believe he drove into me in turn four after I bump passed him in turn two!’

Now I’m not saying we all need to act like animals, but tough racing is what we do …Naturally!… Every weekend across the region. Pushing the limits for a moment of glory. Making holes in traffic, hanging it out for one more lap, hoping the tires still have a little more to give.

Race fans, we understand that there is a swing back to grass root racing. And as the voice of the SST – Super Short Track Racing Series,… our teams are ready to put on a show for you in 2010!.

Across the region of SST participating tracks, we invite you to get to know your hometown racing personalities. Amy Catalano #54 from Ontario (Rochester) will be defending her 09’ SST Modified Championship against Joe Evans #91 from Holland who won in 08’. Rumors of the two time champ TJ Potrezebowski #51 (Elmira) maybe back in SST Modified action for this coming season as well. Maybe it will be someone new? A rookie or simply a refocused veteran looking to take a place in history. The list goes on and on. Add in SST SuperStocks to the mix, and you got yourself a show of personalities and talent!

Join us this spring as SST gets underway at Dunn Tire Raceway Park(Lancaster), Holland Motorsports Complex, Oswego for the RoC, Spencer Speedway and The BullRing- Wyoming County International Speedway (Perry)…and maybe more as we go…Check us out on line at www.sstracingseries.com and check us out all season long at your local short track!

Attention regional promoters;

With great disappointment, I fear the lack of your support for the 2010 SST / American Racer Tire Program is a step backwards for all of us.

Since the beginning, SST was designed to benefit everyone involved within our regional motor sport community. From the rookie teams to the fans at your race facility. Creating an effective marketing network and awareness for continued growth…and with this, we have been successful…even with your limited support and acknowledgement.

So, even after many years of proving unification is power full, we continue to find ourselves in a position without full cooperation from local promoters. The SST Modified program, at many tracks, has become the premier division…with the highest car count and participation the regional asphalt industry has seen in years…yet the motives of SST organization are still ignorantly questioned, and in this case …stonewalled.

This tire program was designed to enhance profitability to your track and the series, creating necessary funds needed to sustain proper growth…but mostly, to replenish due promotional monies to the race teams via year end point fund. Something that for years has been shielded by the ‘BuSiness as usual’ Hoosier agreements. … Shame on you Hoosier for not respecting the future benefits of SST and contributing to this local upset in racing history!

I’ve always stepped outside of the box to see the big picture, stand up for what was right… with integrity. There are strong principles behind every careful decision the SST Series makes, even with the sacrifice of my own time and interest. But with that said, every one of us within the SST community, including myself, cannot justifiably continue to promote your tracks, without your full attention, cooperation and support!

As of now, the SST Tour schedule as we know it, has been suspended pending the out come of the next several weeks. I invite you to carefully reconsider the direction and motives behind the promotion of your up coming season. I will make every attempt to be available for further discussions on this matter…it’s extremely important, and shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Attached is a letter that is being sent out to the our group of WNY racetrack promoters concerning the future of SST. I've been carefully wording it for a couple weeks, so to be politically correct

With no disrespect, you know I have very low regards for NASCAR and their assumption that the SST Series was developed on there behalf... and as for Hoosier...they have been taking advantage of us all for years...and I can't stand by and continue to let that happen

all of my correspondence will be made public to allow everyone to better understand the principles behind this movement

We have a long road ahead of us …
